guys hold up, im in last year of high school and going to uni next year and want to take part in formula student as well, like will there be classes missed or stuff like that?!
Depends on how much you want to spend and which position you are going for. If you work as a support without a part responsibility or else, you could easily study without missing classes (~10-20h a week). If you on the other hand want to take a position with responsibility you’ll spend more time. There is basically no limit set, besides the one depending on your health. In some European teams it’s common for some Teammembers to spend ~80h a week, especially before important project deadlines.
@@sully6114 ohh alright, thank you very much, but what about if we do miss classes, do the uni still let you take exams because i heard somewhere that a student missed two classes (for a different reason) and the uni didnt let them take exams. kinda worried about that, rest is fine.
@@Shelovescharles This also depends on the university you are planning to go. I think in the USA most of the Uni’s have an attendance policy. Another reason for european teams being way ahead of the americans ones is the fact, that we don’t need to pay that much money to study, nor do we have massive amounts of student loans. That’s why students in europe have way more freedom to take time off Uni. In my Uni for example you need to get at least some credit points in 4 semesters to avoid being kicked. That means you could easily do 2 years of formula student without really worrying about your studying.
@@sully6114 ahh alright, thank you very much, im applying to warsaw uni of tech (poland) so this stuff would help me out, thanks again
Powertrain Engineer: *drops it*

bro is living my dream
Wow this just blows my mind. Who wouldve understood how many smart and dedicated people it takes to get everyday machinery we use to work correctly time and time again. I think the definition of hero's is wrong. If the lights ever go out you'll wish you knew one of these guys.
no heat treatment ?
what unlimited budget looks like
never in my life have I seen a machinist wearing a lab coat
00:54 I think we're missing a lot of this process. It looked like a laser cutting device but then it goes under water or some other liquid and gets effectively machined? They are hiding the proprietary technology I'm just curious how that works I thought it was gonna cut the basic blank but apparently it didn't have to Cut through the metal. it cut 2 specific depths like a milling process. Anyone know the name? I'll look it up whatever this equipment is.
EDM is a thermal process for removing unwanted material by applying cycled discharging sparks in the gap between an electrode and a conductive workpiece. This method is typically used for machining refractory metals and hard materials, which are difficult to machine with conventional machining techniques.
Mooi spul
So this is where red bull got the idea for the life of a bolt
this is insanely cool
It’s crazy how far technology has come 🤯
Heel cool!
When I was in school I thought the stuff the SAE people were doing looked cool, till i went to one of their meeting. Those people looked like they got no sleep and were talking about all the stuff they had to do. I wanted nothing to do with it at that point.
Ahahaha so funny! >U<
Не много ли лишних людей?
His life only lasted a bit more than a minute 😰😰
I was part of URE in 2008, back then it had a Suzuki GSX 600cc engine from a bike...
Promo_SM 🌈
🔥🔥
You made not only your own car, but also own Drive To Survive
European student formula is on another level 🤯
i love how 1mil $ teams spend so much money on useless stuff ... now try make an upright with 50 bucks !
What school is this?
Analysis software name?
Looked like Solidworks. But use what you're comfortable with, they all work and it's way easier to onboard students with the stuff they use in classes.
It was awesome
On which software you design?
I love to see so much support for the team. At my college, it has been a nightmare to get these teams going and maintained as they are 100% student lead and executed with too little help from the University and faculty. It has been great to work on these projects; however, FSAE is really exciting, and I can't wait to potentially compete against one of the teams I see in many of the FSAE videos I see.
Can u please organise a new Q&A so that new incoming students like me can ask doubts. It will be quite helpful😄
Haha yeah that is what it looks like in germany, must be really nice working there.
this is not germany......
What is the ”cutting”-procedure called? When the gear is formed out of the raw-material?
Did you find out? Here I am a year later wondering the same thing.

How can I become a mechanical engineer in Formula 1. Please ❤
Bro in which collage do you study
What education do I need for this?
It's a student project, so you need to go to a college with a team
Thought it was for students. Not engineers
... students who are in university and who are going to get an engineering degree soon
bro he is living my dream
Well I'm going to study that now
I was wondering how tf you guys have so much funding and workspace, and then I remembered: you’re a European team 😂
Believe me it’s not like that for every european team
@@sahmirlareum2718 True, but as a rule of thumb I'd say that the funding and other support (e.g. technical partnerships) Formula teams here in Europe receive tends to be greater than in the US. At least based on my experience in Germany & The Netherlands and having spoken with fellow FS students in the US
@@benholz9280 its only germany and benelux, all other european teams have the smae shitty conditions than the rest of the world
@@ericvauwee4923 Because everything is based on FSG. They're consistently killing combustion teams because they're drying up funding for them
@@Crusher29 as somebody working in a combustion team I feel wahr you say so much :'((
Which designing software do they use
Funding, tho...
Watching here NW friend I visit you house
The attention to the detail given to f1 car parts is insane
It’s not F1 ^^
wait till they find out about home-depot
Wow! A dedicated work space, and not just some corner of the storage area? Man, y'all are living large.
Exactly!! We indian teams are working in an old unused and unmaintained room lmao.
@@adityabilgundi true plus they have a lot of sponsers
They're using NX10 to design the gear
1:13 that sounds sooooooo beautiful ;)
Can you give me some advise or sometime to go to these kind of universities
A printed... agenda...
yeah I was suprised too like in our meetings we have no paper
Was more common 4 years ago, pre-covid....
